Hosting your evening of entertainment in the style of a Jane McDonald tribute is outstanding vocalist Hayley J. Exceptional male vocalist Johnny Dee performs a fantastic tribute to the music legend Neil Diamond and the hilarious comedian Terry Devon will have you rolling with laughter! A rock ‘n’ roll demonstration (a favourite pastime of Andrea’s) by Graham Bennett and a final disco dance spot completes an evening to remember.

Tickets are £8 each and available from the Alhambra Box Office on 01274 432 000.

Doors open at 7.00pm performance begins 7.30pm

20th May 2012 – Charity Sponsored Walk raising funds for Brain Tumour Research & Support Across Yorkshire (BTRS)!

Karl Martin is organising a 7.5 mile circular walk through the beautiful countryside on the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) from Worsborough to Penistone and back again.

Arrive at Worsbrough Mill Museum and Country Park, Worsbrough Bridge, Barnsley, S70 5LJ car park at 10:15 for a 10:30 start. We will walk through the country park toward Wigfield Farm and pick up the TPT staying on the disused railway line over the M1 to edge of Dodworth, then onto Knabbs Lane at Silkstone.

The TPT then goes up and along the railway embankment around tunnels to Blackergreen Lane bridleway, then left along the bridleway to Coates Lane and the Travellers Rest pub on the A629.

After midpoint refreshments at the Travellers Rest we will turn back toward Worsborough Mill Country Park and the finish line

Gradient

Most of the route is flat running along dismantled railway lines although between Silkstone and Oxspring it becomes steep in places.

Ground Conditions

We recommend you wear walking boots as much of the surface is rough stone and soil and gets muddy and slippy in wet weather. From Oxspring into Penistone there is an all weather non-slip surface.

I hope you will be able to join us on this wonderful day and help raise much needed awareness and funds for this cause which despite being the biggest cancer killer of children and the under 40′s in the UK today, research into the disease receives less than 1% of all monies raised for research into cancer.

If you are able to join us please download a sponsor form and start collecting your sponsorship today and no matter how much you raise, you could help save someone’s life.

For more information or to sign up for the walk, email Karl or visit my Facebook page (Karl Martin) or join the Event on Facebook at the Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire Page.

On the 30th of March 2012 BTRS will join Brain Tumour Research and the other member charities in encouraging nurseries, schools, colleges, universities, public sector bodies and office workers to make a donation in order to nominate their ‘head’ to wear a hat for the day in aid of the charity’s annual ‘Wear a Hat Day’. The campaign aims to raise awareness regarding the prevalence of brain tumours and the need for vital research.

‘Wear a Hat Day’ is our annual awareness day which encourages people to make donations to wear a hat to school or in the office. This year Brain Tumour Research is also encouraging students and workers nationwide to challenge their ‘head’ to wear a hat for the day. From sponsored silences to charity runs and office bake-offs, organisations around the country are being encouraged to raise money in any which way they see fit in order to sponsor their ‘head’ to wear a hat. Contact Carol using contact@btrs.org.uk to take part.

Brain tumour research receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK yet this deadly disease kills more children and people under the age of 40 than any other cancer.

Brain Tumour Research’s annual Wear A Hat Day has been designed to capture your imagination and enable your establishment to have fun. By getting involved you will be raising vital funds for brain tumour research. More importantly you will be providing the hope of finding a cure for this most devastating of diseases. To help your day be a success we have put together some great materials:

The event is being held to raise money for our chosen charities; The British Heart Foundation and Brain Tumour Trust, formerly Andrea’s Gift.

The charity golf day will involve an 18 hole tournament and brunch, with participants playing to win the Clive Hewson Memorial trophy – a tribute to a much loved friend and colleague.

In the evening we will host a black tie gala dinner with an exclusive charity auction and raffle prizes. Last year was tremendously successful, so please join us this year for a spectacular evening of dinner, dancing and live music.

If you are interested in attending the charity golf and/or the gala dinner please R.S.V.P by 13th April to events@bedfordstransport.co.uk or click here to fill in a booking form. Book a team of 4 for the golf day at £500 and this will include 8 places at dinner. Alternatively if you wish to book specific places at either golf or the dinner then call for more details on 01924 422456 and ask for Phil or Lauren.

Thank you for your support and we look forward to hearing from you.
